For the Matugga Rum campaign, I led the product visualisation as a 3D artist and animator.
I created a series of premium visuals and cinematic 3D animations that blended technical precision with rich, atmospheric storytelling.
The goal was to highlight the product’s elegance through photorealistic rendering, detailed materials, and lifelike motion.
I modelled the bottle and glass in Autodesk 3ds Max, starting with accurate dimensions for real-world scale fidelity.
Embossed glass details and the label design received special attention to enhance authenticity.
I unwrapped the geometry and applied custom UV maps for precise placement and clear label legibility.
To add realism, I used bump and glossiness maps that captured fine material textures and surface variation.
TyFlow was used to generate procedural ice cubes, each with unique imperfections and internal cracking for natural variation.
A second TyFlow system created frost buildup on the glass to achieve a fresh-from-the-freezer effect.
For the liquid simulation, I used PhoenixFD to animate the smooth pour and swirl of the rum.
I adjusted viscosity, surface tension, and collision parameters to accurately simulate the behaviour of a dense spirit.
Splash and foam systems added extra realism during dynamic motion.
Rendering was done using V-Ray with physically accurate lighting techniques and ray-traced caustics for photorealistic quality.
The lighting setup included HDRI-based environment maps and area lights with soft highlights for added visual depth.
Shaders were tuned to capture rich amber tones, clear refraction, and realistic reflections within the glass.
Materials were optimized to balance render speed with high visual fidelity.
This project shows how a skilled 3D artist can bring products to life through product visualisation and fluid animation.
It demonstrates how 3D storytelling can enhance a brand’s presence through cinematic and technically precise visuals.
